Minimizing an application to system tray - Minimize To Tray


  1. Select an application window which you want to minimize, e.g. Notepad.

  2. Press Win+Z.
  3. You will see the icon of the minimized window in the system tray:

  4. To restore the application, just click its icon with left mouse button.

Changing settings

Using the Minimize To Tray application icon in the System Tray, you can set different parameters:

  1. Click the Minimize To Tray icon in the System Tray. The followind dialog will appear:

  2. Change the default settings if necessary.
  3. Click "Save" button.
WARNING! If you uncheck the "Run when Windows starts" checkbox, you will not be able to minimize applications to the System Tray after restart. It is not recommended to disable this option.

Changing default hotkeys

On the Keys tab, you can select a hotkey which will be used for minimizing applications. The default variant is Win+Z but you can change override it. Just select the necessary option. This can be helpful, for example, if you want to register Win+Z hotkey for something else.

The other hotkey, "Expand all", is used for restoring all the applications which you have minimized with MinimizeToTray. e.g. if you have minimzed Notepad, Paintbrush and Calculator and you don't want to click all their icons in the tray, just press the "Expand all" hotkey (the default is Win+Shift+Z).

If you select "Other key" option, the "Custom shortcut key" box will appear. With the cursor in the "Custom shortcut key" box, select the keyboard key you want to use in combination with Ctrl+Alt. Shortcut keys automatically start with Ctrl+Alt. The Shortcut key box will display None until you select the key and then the box will display Ctrl+Alt+the key you selected. You cannot use the Esc, Enter, Tab, Spacebar, Print Screen, or Backspace keys.

Adding an application to auto-minimize list

On this tab you can select the list of applications which are automatically minimized to tray instead of taskbar. To add an application, click "Add" button and select a path to the application. To delete it from the list, select the application and press "Delete" button.
